"Lend me your hearts, my brothers, and I shall hold the line."
About
A knight of Ishgard and child of the Brume, Ser Diarmuid Myste is a veteran of the Dragonsong War and a Captain (though currently in name only) of the Order of the Knights-Dragoon's 1st Chapter. Though he has returned to the fold within the last year or so, he spent a considerable time before that away from home; like many other Dragoons, he sought new purpose in the aftermath of peace with Dravania. Now, however, he returns, bearing old titles of shame as new badges of pride, trading his lance for a greatsword, and hoping that in the absence of existential foes without, he might turn his heart and his aid inward towards his home and his people.

- Diarmuid is a knight of Ishgard and a veteran of the Dragonsong War, serving as a Dragoon for nearly two-thirds of his life. Those who served during the last few years of the war might recognize the names of Ser Diarmuid Myste and his mentor, Ser Fionn Myste, who was like a sister to him; each fought a Trial by Combat for accusations of heresy, albeit separated by years. Diarmuid emerged from his trial victorious. Ser Fionn did not.- During his wandering, Ser Diarmuid has been seen frequenting the Brass Clover, a well-maintained (if a tad shady) den of liquor and mercenaries in Hingashi. Rumor has it he's stayed so often they keep a room set aside for him.- Diarmuid makes no secret of the fact he was born in the Brume. He already made frequent visits to the people there during the war, and these have only increased since his return home.Rare Hooks
- While there is no conclusive evidence for the Inquisition to charge Ser Diarmuid with walking the path of a Dark Knight, those with their ear to the ground in Coerthas have heard of one whose strength in the Abyss is rivaled only by his temperance. Those seeking knowledge of the Abyss and the Flame would be wise to seek out such a man.
- While he fully returned to Ishgard only recently, a few knights know that he returned temporarily to serve in the vanguard for the Ishgardian contingent on Ilsabard during the Final Days where he, along with Dame Rivian Dragonclaw, held the line against the Blasphemies. The knights under them earned the nickname "the Drake's Fangs".Use with OOC Permission
- Rumors abound amongst Temple Knights stationed at Falcon's Rest about an Executioner riding out into the snow drifts and a substantial duel with a Dark Knight that followed. While none were close enough to see the knights faces, one hunter reports hearing a cry from the Dark Knight as they released what could only be their Esteem - "Fionn, I tire."
OOC Info
Hey there, thanks for sticking around for the boring stuff! I'm on Crystal | Mateus, so that's where you'll find me if you want to meet up in game.
Also, I do my best to keep IC mentalities and sentiments separate from OOC, so if you don't think you can give me the same courtesy, I kindly ask that you not try to RP with me.

I love repeat RP and forging different kinds of relationships between characters, so I'm totally down to get in touch with people OOC as well as IC, bet it through my FF friends list or my Discord. My play schedule is a bit inconsistent because of school, work, and other RL commitments, so I'm much easier to get ahold of on Discord, especially if I'm not online in FF. If we've been RPing and you want to get in touch again, or you're hoping to RP but need to run, feel free to ask for it!

If you're interested in RPing with me, I have a few general "guidelines" I ask people to follow (though they're more just expectations/no-go zones in terms of topics and content). You can find them below.

ERP and Mature Themes
I am 21+, and prefer characters/players I RP with to be at least 18+, especially if the RP involves darker and more mature themes.Like many of the people I hang around with in-game, I enjoy dark themes in RP, but by no means does that mean I'm a downer all the time! Especially with Thyri, I enjoy exploring themes of spirituality and its relationship with aether, as well as warmer interpersonal relationships, in addition to those dark themes. If we do explore those more mature themes, I am a firm believer in the idea of the 'X' card, that is, if at any time you feel uncomfortable with the direction of the RP (we're touching on topics you're not comfortable with, our characters' interactions are making you uncomfortable OOC, etc.), you can let me know (if you don't want to share specifically what or why you're uncomfortable, shoot me a tell that just has the letter 'X', I'll know what you mean) and we can stop the RP or change course into more comfortable territory (the 'X' card applies if we're around my friends as well. They share the same sensibilities, but don't all use the 'X' card specifically, so if you send me your 'X' card I'll let them know we're getting into an uncomfortable area). While IC =/= OOC, OOC comfort with the situation takes precedent over the IC situation, so don't feel bad if we need to stop for that reason.

I'd also like to say, on similar terms, that I'm not really an ERPer. I'm not interested in random ERP, it's a space I'm not really comfortable with, so I'd appreciate it if you didn't approach me for that. That being said, I am open to romantic partners for Diarmuid, and if our RP heads in that direction and we're both comfortable with it, so be it. I'm always looking for new friends/comrades-in-arms, though, especially with other dark knights (or those who seek to become one!).

Lore
I love lore. I think the lore that exists for FFXIV is great. But, I also think that, especially for the purposes of RP, lore can be bent. It can be extrapolated upon (as long as those extrapolations don't contradict existing lore in really significant ways), and that's how we build really great stories. So I'm fine with bending lore a bit for the sake of making an interesting character or exploring the possibilities of the world.
